Dr. Piper Klemm, Publisher of The Plaid Horse, has been selected to judge the High Timber Classic I USHJA Outreach Horse Show on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Meadow View Farm in Spokane, WA.

Meadow View Farm is owned by Pam Raymond, who has owned the farm for four decades and has been based out of Spokane since 2014. The boutique hunter-jumper barn boasts an extensive lesson program, teaching students ranging from beginners to show competitors.

“We’re really trying to elevate the level of competition in this eastern Washington area. One of my goals when we moved [to Spokane] was to raise the bar and get people more prepared to show at rated shows,” says Ramond. “Last year, we brought a USHJA Outreach Show to Spokane for the first time, and we’re carrying on with that this year. In 2022, we will have four shows. We are trying to help kids and adults understand what’s involved in the showing process. We have a ton of horses here, a ton of young riders, a ton of adult riders, and I just want to open up the opportunities and make it more accessible.”

High Timber Classic I and II will run from May 21-22, and High Timber Classic III and IV will run from September 24-25. The shows will offer the full complement of the USHJA Outreach Program Classes, with hunter, jumper, and equitation divisions.

Raymond said that selecting Klemm as a judge has brought a lot of excitement toward the upcoming High Timber Classic I.

“Piper is just wonderful, so gracious, and has a great reputation,” says Raymond. “Myself, along with most of my clients all follow The Plaid Horse, and while I am not an amateur myself I love [The Plaid Horse Adult Amateur Lounge]. It’s a great place to get good information from seasoned riders. It’s going to be a thrill to have her out here as a judge.”

Similar to Raymond, Klemm is an advocate for local horse shows and horse show accessibility. She says she is delighted to be a part of the High Timber Classic horse shows and is looking forward to meeting new competitors, trainers, and spectators.

“I admire the work that Pam has done to create opportunities for riders looking to make that next step in horse showing,” says Klemm. “It’s so important to advocate for local horse shows and to ensure that those riders are getting the experience and education they need to feel comfortable and confident on the show circuit. I am so excited to join the judging panel and contribute to this wonderful show series.”
